Andrew Gifford

Andrew started to play the fiddle whilst growing up in Orkney, and moved on to lessons with the late Willie Hunter when he moved to Shetland aged eight. Andrew used to go to the famous Lounge Bar as a youngster to watch and learn from musicians such as Peerie Willie Johnson and Bogey Dalziel, as well as getting to join in with visiting musicians from around the world.†

Exposure to a range of instruments and styles led Andrew to an interest in many musical styles, and as a result he has played in bands performing bluegrass, electronica, jazz, and rock music. A recent example of this is Adopted as Holograph (click here to watch Adopted as Holograph video).
